I’ve used a number of pseudonyms before, in my Gazette and writing contest days. In the blogosphere though, I make myself known as Peppermayo.
When other bloggers review my blog, mostly for contests, I noticed that they often start off with a definition of the word psyche; then they wonder why I call myself Peppermayo.
pep·per·ma·yo
[pep-er-mey-oh]
–noun. a dressing in some KFC chicken sandwiches for which there are tons of recipes but no definition on the web
Why Peppermayo you ask?
No, it’s not my ultimate favorite dressing – that would be Thousand Island. The only time I have pepper-mayo is when I eat KFC’s Twister or chicken wrap. I can say that I just love the word, no explanations, really… But there’s an explanation. It’s quite cheesy. Don’t say you haven’t been warned! Here’s the story:
The hubby used to tease me by calling me mayonnaise because the first syllable sounds like my nickname and being a naughty girl, I was not going without a fight, so I teased him back – I called him peanut butter. Well mayonnaise and peanut butter are both yummy sandwich spreads or dips but they don’t really taste good together. They don’t even sound or look good together. So I ditched the peanut butter and went for pepper. Thus the pseudonym Peppermayo! It’s really just the letters P & M (our initials) in the word that have significance, if any.
Another reason — I haven’t been comfortable with using my real name on the internet. So when I like some words such as lemonlime, Clytie (that’s actually a name), or daffodyll (tweaked spelling), I use them in my cyber accounts (e.g. emails, blogs, social networks, etc.). So if I’m now letting you call me by my nickname, we may have already developed a kind of closeness, or I may have placed some trust in you, or maybe we just happened to be in the same circle of bloggers. Lucky you! LOL!
So who’s Peppermayo?
I’m just a simple home-maker who’s passionate about writing. Blogging has proven to be the best hobby for me because I get to write, meet new people, stay updated on current events (a.k.a. gossip), learn new things, share my experiences, voice my opinions, earn some extra bucks and challenge myself sometimes. I am OC but am also a huge procrastinator; so that makes me my own best boss and worst employee at the same time.
Just as much as I enjoy writing, I like playing with words. If I were given a better memory, I imagine I’d be one of the most eloquent bloggers/writers because I’d have an exceptionally vast vocabulary… But my forgetfulness has gotten the best of me so you would just have to deal with my mediocre writing capabilities.
My favorite topics include movies, books, food, travel, TV, iPhone, shopping and my life with hubby. I have a tendency to fixate on things and I pay unnecessary attention to trivial stuff. For example, I bet you didn’t notice that the phrase In My Psyche consists of 3 words, 10 letters, of which only 2 are vowels and are placed at the beginning and at the end.
