volunteered to what?

Spent the night at the base with hubby last Saturday. He volunteered to be telephone operator for AADD (the AF’s campaign against drunk driving). I was expecting to sit in a small room with a phone, a PC and a surveillance camera… But no. Instead, when we went into the room, a huge HP flat screen was blasting music from Inglorious Basterds. Apparently, we were going to sit in the office of the Fuels Flight where the Airmen work 24/7. So for entertainment at night, they have the flatscreen, a DVD player and a ping pong table. Who knows what else are in those private rooms…
Had there been wall sconces instead of bright fluorescent lamps on the ceiling, it would have had a movie-theater feel… The love seat was perfect for hubby and me. So there, he volunteered to answer a few calls and potentially saved four lives with his partner and I volunteered to watch two flicks… Can you imagine, those Airmen there can do that everyday!
