Smart Phone Wars

When I saw the hugest screen on a cellular phone on TV in 2007, it uses touch screen technology and it was called the iPhone, I became a believer of love at first sight
I used up part of my savings and even loaned some money from my father when it became available in the Philippines. I could have just waited till I got my Visa and have my husband-to-be buy me one, but I just couldn’t wait! I didn’t even wait to get home before I opened the box. But to my dismay, it lacked a lot of features that time. It has improved over the years though, and I’m still a happy owner of the latest version, 3G S.
Early November, I saw this advertisement on TV and I was taken aback. This is taking the smart phone wars to the next level. The iPhone has been been battling the Blackberry, Palm Pre, MyTouch 3G and now, Droid!

Droid parallels the iPhone’s storage capacity, price and usage plans, wifi and GPS capabilities. It brags a camera with higher resolution (5 mega pixels), video recording (but no video editing, bleh!) and a flash maybe since it’s a Motorola phone. It also promises longer talk time (but shorter standby time) and multi-tasking. But still its 10,000 applications is no match against iPhone’s 93,200.
That ad was sure catchy but I remain unmoved. First love never dies. ;p
